Sami Zubaida was born in 1937 in Baghdad, Iraq. In his interview he spoke about daily life in Iraq and his early memories of the Second World War. He left Iraq at the age of sixteen in 1953 to study at an English boarding school. He is now an Emeritus Professor of Politics and Sociology in London.
