David Joseph was born in 1937 in Baghdad, Iraq. The family lived in Baghdad but owned a farm outside the town where he spent summer holidays. In his interview he spoke about a growing feeling of fear throughout his childhood. He left Iraq to study in England in 1956 and established an electrical company in London.
